Sucks

Newfoundlanders use the word "suck" as a noun, used as the description of a person who sucks up to others (e.g. "you little suck"). Of course, Newfoundlanders are not maritimers.

Dave:

I never heard the term "suck" until I moved to Ontario.

In NF we used to say "sook" or "sooky-baby" to describe a whiny person.

I never heard anyone use the term "suck".

We used sooky baby too, but used "suck" exactly in the modern sense -- someone who sucked up (for example) the teacher.
