In the next Sparks!

As per Danny Ayers suggestions here in the comments, you will be able to navigate all your way through a reading session is Sparks! using the keyboard. In particular:

  • F2 will go to the next unread blog and display all unread entries. This is the quickest and most efficient way to navigate through your blogroll.
  • F3 will go to the next unread entry

Danny also suggests some sort of filtering mechanism by keywords. We actually have 95% of the code written to do this, but I'm personally torn. Would it not be better to tie into some online service such as PubSub or Technorati? If you have any thoughts, drop into our forums and start a discussion.

Tying into PubSub is really easy and would be, I think, a particularly compelling thing for a tool like Jager. Take a look at the documentation at: http://www.pubsub.com/docs/pubsub_xmpp_draft.html

Since Jäger runs as client code on the user's desktop, it should be easy for you to establish a connection using Jabber/XMPP to our servers and then receive updates from the PubSub servers in real-time. The folk at 2Entwine who build GUSH have done this in their NewsAggregator/JabberClient and it is very compelling. (See: http://2entwine.com/ ).
